The Lounge Chair was developed in the 1950s with the aim of combining elegant style with ultimate comfort. The armchair is now recognized as a great classic of 20th century furniture design. The Lounge Chair is available in two sizes and different configurations with different types of leather upholstery, wooden seat shells and bases. Ideally, the chair is combined with the matching ottoman.

The couple moved to California where they continued their furniture design work with molding plywood. After World War II, Evans Products began producing the Eameses’ molded plywood furniture. Their molded plywood chair was called ‘the chair of the century’ by the influential architectural critic Esther McCoy. Soon production was taken over by Herman Miller, Inc., who continues to produce the furniture in the United States today.
